Focusing on Comprehensive Eye Exams

Each May, eye care professionals throughout country participate in Healthy Vision Month. When was the last time you had a comprehensive eye exam? Getting your eyes tested regularly is one of the most effective steps you can take to be sure that your vision remains strong and healthy. During your procedure, your eye care professional checks your eyes, making sure you're clear of frequently occurring eye diseases and vision issues, several of which lack early warning symptoms.

The session commences with a visual acuity test, which uses an eye chart to measure how your vision behaves at several different distances. The outside of your eye will also be properly examined.

As soon as your tests are completed, your optometrist may go ahead and examine your retina using specialized diagnostic technology. This part of the exam is extremely important, because it provides vital information about the health of your eyes, as well as information about your general health. To give an example, it can show signs of diseases such as diabetes and also point to unhealthy blood pressure.

You will also be screened for signs of glaucoma. This is done by checking your eye pressure, with a rapid puff of air aimed right onto the eye.

Anytime is the right time to take the extra measure for your eyes. Commit to making your eye health come first, and book an eye exam today.
